Enid Tahirovic transfers to Göppingen

German Bundesliga Club Frisch Auf! Göppingen has found a replacement for Martin Galia. The Czech keeper transfered to Lemgo, and now his successor has been announced. Bosnia national team keeper Enid Tahirovic will be Göppingens goalie in the upcoming season. „Frisch Auf has scanned intensely the Scandinavian, French and east European market for goalkeepers especially with the help of Aleksandar Knezevic. Frisch Auf! has selected the strongest available player”, said Alexander Kolb, spokesperson of Göppingen.

Enid Tahirovic was the focus of the Bundesliga club since 2005 when Göppingen played a tournament in the Bosnian town Doboj. Tahirovic was at that time playing for Bosna Sarajevo. From then on, Velimir Petkovic, Göppingen`s coach, had the keeper on his list. Tahirovic left his mark by playing particularly well when his team RK Cimos Kroper defeated Lemgo in the EHF-Cup.



Tahirovic was awarded “Player of the Year” in Bosnia and is captain of the Bosnian national team. The 35-year old was the best keeper of the Slovenian league, his excelent play was one of the keys to Kroper`s Champions League qualification. In 06/07 the keeper played with Bosna Sarajevo in the CL. During the Civil War in his home country Enid Tahirovic wsa living and playing in Germany and has learned German, a factor that will make his integration in the team of Frisch Auf! easier.

At 1.88m height, Tahirovic weighs 95 kg. After playing for RK Bijeljina and RK Sloboda Tuzla he went to Germany and played for HC Bad Vosslau, HG Fürth and TSV Ansbach. Back in Bosnia he played for RK Željezničar before he transferred to Bosna Sarajevo. The keeper played in 68 matches for Bosnia and has won the national Championship and the Cup 3 times. Right now, Tahirovic is involved in the qualification matches for the World Championship in Croatia where Bosnia was narrowly defeated in the first leg of the play-off by Hungary, 25:27. After his holidays Tahirovic will join Göppingen in the middle of July.
